The
Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Science in the U.S. has
determined that when it comes to meeting daily hydration needs, all beverages
including those with caffeine are hydrating. That's because, although concerns
have been raised that caffeine has a diuretic effect, newer scientific evidence
indicates that this effect is transient, and there is no convincing data that caffeine
leads to dehydration in those who regularly enjoy caffeinated beverages. Foods
with high water content like soup, fruits and vegetables can also play an
important role in keeping the body hydrated. A dehydrated body is sluggish, and
susceptible to illness, so drink up!!
