Welcome to this place. We all want you to know that you will be happy here, even though happiness is not always rolling around in the hallways.
We know you have sacrificed much to be here and we would ask no less of you.
We know that every time you come to this place you will be asked to give more and more of yourself.
We know that there will be days when you’ll have to set aside your own turmoil to be in this place, while this place will cause its own turmoil for you.
We know that some days you will do a great job and on other days you will have done only your best.
We know that you’ll be helped, watched and ignored in this place—never all at once and not always on purpose.
We know that there will be times when you’ll be the first one to show up and the last one to leave this place.
We know that some days you’ll be asked to do it ALL by yourself and then you’ll have to let it go.
We know you’ve come here with your own set of priorities—–we’ll exchange most of them for you.
We know you will have many questions about this place and this place will create even more.
We know that some things that happen in this place cannot always be fixed but can always be forgiven.
We know this place will stretch you, change you and challenge every thought you ever had.
We know that we have a lot of faith in you, even though your faith in yourself has not yet bloomed.
We know that sometimes you will feel powerless in this place, but know that by being here you are a part of something powerful.
We know that one day when you step away from this place, you will no longer be a newcomer here.
We know that what brought you to this place—is what will keep you in this place.
Welcome to parenthood, we’re so glad you could join us.
